Waldesblick Hotel & Restaurant
The cornerstone of our current hotel Waldesblick was established in 1972 by Manfred and Katharina Wendling. As ‘Meisterin der ländlichen Hauswirtschaft’ and ‘Landwirtschaftsmeister’, both Manfred and Katharina strove for sound quality and a pleasant ambience.
In 2002, when pension Waldesblick was left in the care of the second generation, the conversion from pension to hotel began. Since 2007, our hotel is awarded with three stars in the German hotel classification. Since August 2016 we are awarded 3 stars superior.
And since November 2019 our hotel has been awarded 4 stars in the European hotel classification.

studied communication engineering, and afterwards a second training to become a chef at Golfhotel Jakobsberg in Boppard. Mr. Wendling worked in renowned star kitchens, all of which were within the top-50 of best kitchens in Germany. Among them Restaurant Taverna La Vigna in Hotel Schweizer Stuben in Wertheim-Bettingen, Restaurant Hessler owned by Doris-Katharina Hessler in Maintal-Dörnigheim and restaurants St. Urban and Schwarzer Hahnin Hotel Deidesheimer Hof in Deidesheim.
completed her training to become a chef in Restaurant Drathenhof in Molfsee/Kiel. Mrs. Siegel-Wendling consolidated her knowledge with jobs in der Käferschänke in München, der Alten Bootshalle Gosch in List/Sylt and der Kupferkanne in Kampen/Sylt. A change from kitchen to service took place at the Alsterkrug Hotel in Hamburg. Four years of service management in Schnoor´s Restaurant in Hamburg-Volksdorf stimulated organisational skills. Service at ‘der Achalm’ in Reutlingen, in Stuttgarter Stäffele and the Schloßcafé in Dachau followed.
Farmer, ran his own farm with dairy cattle and pigs. Sat for decades as Mayor of Lahr watching over the general interest of the municipality. Foresaw in an early stage upcoming changes in conditions regarding agriculture and switched over to tourism as a source of income.
Certified household help and housewife. Established touristic company “holiday on the farm” together with husband Manfred Wendling.
